On 31 October, Unibet Arena belongs to boxing. The WARRIOR FIGHT 9 main event puts the WBA Baltic cruiserweight title on the line: ten rounds between an unbeaten Estonian and a German veteran with Olympic experience.
Stiven Aas – unbeaten, on home ground
Stiven Aas from Mäetaguse has had ten professional fights and won all ten, half of them by knockout. As an amateur he was a ten-time Estonian champion. In 2020 he was two wins away from a place at the Tokyo Olympics when the pandemic halted the qualifying tournament in London. In May this year he finished his fight in Magdeburg in 35 seconds.
Now he fights for a professional title for the first time – in front of a home crowd. Estonia's boxing greats went far: Nikolai Stepulov won Olympic silver in Berlin in 1936, and Anton Raadik was crowned European champion in 1939. Raadik later fought the best in the world in Chicago – including Marcel Cerdan exactly 79 years ago, on 31 October 1947. But no Estonian has ever fought for a professional world title. Ten years of consistency at the top level and an unbeaten pro record give Aas a unique chance to be the first. Every big journey starts at home – come to Unibet Arena on 31 October and be there at the beginning.
Serge Michel – the "Bavarian Sniper"
Serge Michel, from Traunreut in Bavaria, represented Germany at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. As a professional he has won the WBC International light heavyweight title and reached the final of the Golden Contract tournament. This February he returned to the professional ring at cruiserweight after almost three years away and won on points.
Youth or experience
Aas brings an unbeaten record and the power to end fights early. Michel brings Olympic experience and full ten-round title fights. Ten rounds will show whether the Estonian takes his first professional title – or experience wins out.
